The National Hearing Association (ANA, formerly JNA) announced the launch of a vast hearing screening operation as part of National Hearing Day, which will be held in March 2025. The theme of the The event will be: “Gaming and hearing health”.

Like every year, this day will mobilize around 3,000 people across the region to inform and raise awareness among the general public of the importance of hearing health. All this, with the help of conferences, workshops and hearing screenings.

In a few days, the National Hearing Association will launch an appeal to all these stakeholders in order to structure themselves to maximize the impact of the next campaign planned for March, around National Hearing Day.

Free screenings on March 13, 2025

The major hearing screening operation will begin on Thursday March 13, 2025. “This initiative will allow everyone to assess their hearing free of charge. The screenings, carried out by ENT specialists, hearing aid specialists and other healthcare professionals, will also offer guidance towards suitable solutions if necessary,” the association specifies in its press release.

Gaming and its risks for hearing

The 2025 edition will highlight the potential hearing dangers associated with gaming. “After highlighting the risks associated with prolonged listening to headphones in children under 10 years old in 2023, the National Hearing Association is wondering: what are the hearing dangers linked to gaming and how can they prevent ? » On this occasion, the association will reveal the results of its own studies on the subject.

Earlier this year, an analysis published in the journal BMJ Public Health explored the links between gaming and hearing problems. Of 14 studies reviewed, five found correlations between playing video games, hearing loss and/or tinnitus.
