The case will not go to court. Marilyn Manson has decided to drop his defamation suit filed against Evan Rachel Wood.

The rocker took legal action in March 2022, a little over a year after his ex-fiancée accused him of psychological and physical abuse, violence and rape. After the assertions of the actress of the series Westworldother women had told the press that they had been victims of similar abuse and some had filed complaints.

Brian Warner, his real name, finally paid Evan Rachel Wood's legal fees, amounting to $327,000.

Case closed

The abandonment of this complaint comes after the courts had already largely rejected the arguments put forward by the singer. “Marilyn Manson filed a complaint against Ms. Wood with the sole aim of destroying the credibility of several accusers and reviving his flagging career. But his attempt to silence and intimidate Miss Wood failed,” reacted the actress’s lawyer, Attorney Michael Kump, to Deadline. The deal was finalized on Monday with the singer's signing. Evan Rachel Wood initialed the document on November 19.

After the first accusations from his former fiancée and the many others that followed, Marilyn Manson denounced a “horrible distortion of reality” and denied having abused the women with whom he had been in a relationship. The interpreter of Antichrist Superstar and Evan Rachel Wood made their romance official in 2007, when she was 19 and he was 36. Their breakup occurred in 2010, less than a year after Marilyn Manson proposed to her.
