Last Saturday afternoon and until 2 a.m. at the Salle du Marais, many of them came from all over the region to participate in the “12 hours of ball” organized by the Grange rouge in Branges. Crossed on the track, Gérard and Maryvonne, a couple in life as well as on the floor, assure us: “We have a lot of fun here. »
They met at a ball
“We met at a ball a few years ago at the chestnut festival in the Alpes-Maritimes. We danced together and it was love at first sight! », they summarize.
“I regularly participate in the dance activities offered by the Grange rouge,” explains Gérard. Here, what we like is the atmosphere, the conviviality and the sharing. Everyone gets along well. It is a true intergenerational meeting around the pleasure of dancing. »
They have been pursuing their passion together for many years. Retired, Gérard has been on the floors for a long time and Maryvonne has decided to follow him in his passion. For them, there is nothing like practice: “It's very easy to get started because the steps are very simple at the start and you progress easily afterwards. Otherwise, there is the possibility of practicing during workshops or courses. »
Since their debut on the dance floor, the two dancers have never stopped dancing. And not just a little. Summer and winter, they generally dance at least once a week. “We also take advantage, in addition to Bresse, of our various trips to the Alpes-Maritimes, the Paris region or Brittany to participate in traditional balls. In general, we search a bit on the internet to see if there is anything around where we are,” emphasizes Maryvonne.
A few hours of dancing is above all a moment of escape and an opportunity to meet friends or make new ones. The spirit of the “12 hours of ball” made the participants happy and the appointment is made for 2025!
Branges – What is the “12 hours of ball”?
This season, for four years, the Grange rouge has organized a “12 hours of ball” event which took place last Saturday at the Marais de Branges hall.
From 2 p.m. to 2 a.m. and after the English contradance course in the morning, fans of traditional dances gathered to listen to music and dance with the presence of around ten groups. Over the years, success has continued. With music that exudes joy and celebration, young and old, experienced or beginners, dance on the floor of the Marais room, with values of exchange and sharing.
A Red Barn volunteer concludes enthusiastically: “Everyone is welcome and there are all ages and all social backgrounds. The pleasure is the same for a couple or group dance. »
