Buckingham Palace has announced that Queen Camilla will not be able to attend the Royal Variety Performance which takes place this Friday, November 22, due to “persistent post-viral symptoms”, due to a recent lung infection, reports the BBC.
“The Queen continues to experience persistent post-viral symptoms. Doctors have therefore advised Her Majesty to rest after a very busy week of commitments,” explained a palace spokesperson.
Forced to stay in London, the queen consort, aged 77, had already been forced to cancel many of her engagements at the beginning of the month due to her state of health.
King Charles III present
Last week, Queen Camilla gave the impression of doing much better by resuming her functions for the first time since the illness. On November 12, she notably attended a reception for the prestigious Booker Prize literary prize organized at Clarence House.
“I think I'm on the mend, but it always takes a bit of time to get rid of these kinds of things,” she told the finalists, reports Sky News.
As for Charles III, he should be present at the Royal Albert Hall where the event will be held. The Royal Variety Performance, a charity show initiated in 1912 by King George V, is celebrating its 112th edition this year. With more than 152 million viewers, it helps artists in difficulty.
