The casting choices of “Annoying Love” are debated among Internet users.
On November 20, it was confirmed that Lee Jung Jae and Lim Ji Yeon had been cast in a new romantic comedy titled “Annoying Love.”
“Annoying Love” centers on a fallen actor famous for his roles as a detective and a former political journalist turned entertainment journalist. Written by Jung Yeo Rang, famous for the hit drama “Doctor Cha”, the drama is already getting a lot of attention due to its two main roles.
Lee Jung Jae plays Im Hyun Jun, an actor who dreams of becoming a romantic comedy star. Best known to audiences for his iconic on-screen character from the hit series “Good Cop Kang Pil Gu,” now entering its fifth season, Im Hyun Jun struggles with being typecast as an incapable detective to play other roles. Feeling exhausted and creatively stifled, he yearns for a fresh start in roles that showcase his romantic or comedic potential.
On community sites, however, Internet users question the choice of the main actors. Indeed, Lee Jung Jae being born in 1972 while Lim Ji Yeon was born in 1990, there is an 18-year gap between the two. Lee Jung Jae is in fact 52 years old, while Lim Ji Yeon is 34 years old.
Koreans are therefore wondering about this choice and the immense age gap between the two.
On TheQoo, where a post with more than 40,000 views on the subject created a buzz, we could read from Internet users:
“The age gap is too big. »
“It’s more of a father and daughter. »
“18 years is a lot… Especially for a romantic comedy. »
“Isn’t Lee Jung Jae in his fifties? It's weird. »
“Whose idea was it to cast these two?” »
“I think it’s too much. »
“Why have them make a romantic comedy together? »
“It’s between someone in their thirties and someone in their fifties… it’s like a father and his daughter…”
