Sarah Michelle Gellar, best known for her role in Buffy the Vampire Slayerhas joined the cast of Dexter: Original Sin on Paramount+.
Vampire slayer in the cult series Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Sarah Michelle Gellar has become an icon. And even though the series ended in 2003, the actress has always been passionate about monster hunting. That she is Daphne in both films Scooby-Dooinvestigates supernatural fires and werewolves in Wolf Packconfronts human horror in Southland Tales, dives into horror in the The Grudge or The Returnwe can almost say that the genre sticks to his skin.
Moreover, beyond the creatures, she also confronted horrible serial killers in two small slashers that slightly marked their time: Remember… last summer et Scream 2. And precisely, it is on the side of the killers that she will return to the small screen sinceshe joined the series Dexter : Original Sin.
Buffy the Dexter
Sarah Michelle Gellar therefore joins this prequel to the Dexter series, to play the role of Tanya Martin, head of the CSI (Crime Scene Investigation) department. By extension, she will therefore be Dexter Morgan’s boss, freshly arrived in his forensic medicine internship with the Miami Metropolitan Police. The actress will therefore surely be a form of antagonist for Dexter (or even an unexpected mentor?).
As a reminder, the series will take place in 1991 and will follow Dexter’s transformation into a serial killer. According to the synopsis of the series, this is where he will learn to put his code in place with his father:
« When his bloodthirsty urges can no longer be ignored, Dexter (Patrick Gibson)) must learn to channel his inner darkness. With the guidance of his father, Harry (Christian Slater), he adopts a code designed to help him find and kill people who deserve to be eliminated from society without appearing on the radar of law enforcement.«
Sarah Michelle Gellar joins an already well-stocked list of actors: Molly Brown will play Debra Morgan, Dexter’s sister; Patrick Dempsey will be Aaron Spencer, the captain of the police homicide section, while James Martinez will be the young version of Angel Batista and Alex Shimizu that of Vince Masuka. Filming having started this June 5, 2024, Dexter: Original Sin does not yet have an air date on Paramount+.
