Filming for the comedy Menteuse ended last week in Longueuil. This is the sequel to the film Liar, released in summer 2019.
Louis-José Houde played the main character of the first opus. The comedian, however, is not back in the sequel.
Director Émile Gaudreault explains why.
He was very present in the first version, as much as Anne-Élisabeth, I would say.
“But, ultimately, he told us: ‘I want to take a break from cinema. I don’t want to make the film.’ So there, we had to re-envisage the film without him », Explains the filmmaker.
« But when he left, it gave us a new lease of life.”adds the director. “We said to ourselves: this is the best thing that could have happened to us because we gave all the space to the character of Anne-Élisabeth [Bossé]. So, it really became her film. It allowed us to delve a lot deeper into the character, to go further into her psychology, into her personal journey. And we liked the idea of a woman carrying a mainstream comedy. »
Since the birth of his boy, Louis-José Houde has been very discreet. Next September, he will settle in for a residency at Gesù where he will present his third “hidden show”, entitled You’re not special. For tickets, check out their official website here.
The film Liar with Anne-Élisabeth Bossé, Antoine Bertrand, Catherine Chabot, Luc Senay, Véronique Le Flaguais and Rémy Girard will be released in the summer of 2025.
