The 57-year-old actress also confides to Frédéric Lopez that she made the choice to testify essentially to “talk about reconstruction“. “Because to get better, that’s it. And to ask myself why I went into this story, why I didn't see certain things“, she continued. “I am both extremely modest and I am a fairly discreet person in life. And at the same time, I'm not afraid to speak. And I know that words are restorative and that when someone you know has the same things happening to them, somewhere, it's reassuring. Is that dit : 'Ah, well… She, ultimately, she's like me'”, she added, wishing to be able to help other people through her speaking out.
Sandrine Bonnaire talks about her atypical childhood in A Sunday in the countryside
During the show, Sandrine Bonnaire also looked back on her childhood, explaining that she grew up in a family of 11 children. “My father and my uncle had built a chalet, without water and electricity (…) We only washed once a weekmy mother washed us in a tub, there were 4.5 of us in it… We didn't cope very well. At school, people knew we lived like that. But at the same time we remained dignified, my parents were very courageous. There was real freedom. Maybe the boldness I had comes from that“, she said.
