Originally from Barbados, singer Rihanna does not have American nationality and will therefore not be able to vote in the presidential election on November 5. For the occasion, the singer joked about “sneaking into the polls” with the passport of one of her sons.
She is one of the last to speak before the American presidential election which will be held on the night of November 5 to 6, 2024. In the vote between Donald Trump and Kamala Harris, Rihanna has made her choice. Although she indicated that she would vote for the Democratic candidate as the next president of the United States, the singer cannot nevertheless do so in practice: legally a Barbadian citizen, she does not currently have American nationality and does not therefore does not have the right to vote.
And on Instagram, Rihanna tried to turn this situation into a joke, in her own way. “Me trying to sneak into the polling stations with my son's passport,” she captioned a video of herself looking out a car window wearing sunglasses , deep in thought. A statement to which she added the hashtag #VoteCauseICantor “Vote because I can’t”.

The singer also took the opportunity to urge her fans to “get ready to vote.” Expressing her dislike for Republican candidate Donald Trump, she added: “When protecting women and firing them can be done in one vote.”

Born in Barbados, the 36-year-old singer never changed her nationality after moving to the United States in 2005. Her two sons, RZA, 2, and Riot, just over a year old, and her toddler friend A$AP Rocky are American citizens.
