The Atelier-Galerie du Quai de l’Arnette in Mazamet is opening a new exhibition, still faithful to its concept: “One month, one artist”. In November, it’s time for photography with an attractive theme “Mazametan images and figures”. Its author and project manager, Didier Houlès is the guest of Michel Spérandio to depict, as the evocative title indicates, our environment and a few moments frozen by the lens.
The photographer’s notoriety is mainly due to his long-term commitment to local political life. His passion for photography allows him to show, once again, his humanist sensitivity. So, the photos proposed are of course images of the “Country”, of one’s country, which mark a place, a moment, an event or an attitude. Characters from local life, sometimes anonymous, are also entitled to his benevolent and attentive “eye”. It is not a question, far from it, of showing our faults, of using irony or sarcasm, it is just a question of humanity, of empathy tinged with affection, of good humor, in short of emotion. This “freeze frame” of our surroundings happily highlights what escapes us.
Didier Houlès, already known for his “Snapshots” around the world, has written his photographic journeys into books, he will reveal, during the opening, his latest work in progress, its content and its next publication. Michel Spérandio, the host, and Didier Houlès are organizing an opening this Thursday, November 7 from 6:30 p.m. This will involve discovering the series of photos and sharing our impressions, commenting on the images over a drink and in a “jazzy” musical atmosphere delivered by So Jazz, the musical duo essential pillar of the place.
