The plot follows Keanu Reeves as a retired assassin. Since the death of his beloved wife, John Wick has spent his days repairing his 1969 Ford Mustang, with only Daisy, an adorable dog given to him by his wife, for company. When two thugs break into his home to steal the Mustang, they brutally kill Daisy… John Wick then embarks on a bloody quest for revenge, which confronts him with the criminal enterprise to which he once belonged. The death of the puppy was traumatic for many spectatorswhich is why directors hesitated for a long time to keep it in the edit.

During an interview given for the 10th anniversary of the film, directors Chad Stahelski and David Leitch explained that they hesitated for a very long time to keep the plot in which the adorable dog would be murdered: “Kill the Puppy has been deleted as many times as it has been written [dans le script].
