Ian Somerhalder’s (Vampire Diaries) confession: “My acting career is behind me”

Bad news for all fans of comedian Ian Somerhalder. If they were hoping for their on-screen idol one day, they might be disappointed! The actor, who became a global star with Nina Dobrev and Paul Wesley in Vampire Diarieshas just made a little confession that says a lot about his future.

Ian Somerhalder realistic about his future

If Ian Somerhalder hasn't been in the casting of a series since V Wars in 2019, he clearly doesn't intend to do it again anytime soon. Recently interviewed by People Magazine, the star actor revealed that his acting profession was now far behind him. “I think it's in the rearview mirror. I think so. We got the rights back to V Wars (with his wife Nikki Reed who was his partner in the series, editor's note), but I don't know how we could make a television series (…) We create three companies at the same time and we raise children”, thus affirmed the actor who also left Los Angeles to settle in the countryside with his wife to raise their two children (a girl born in July 2017 and a boy who was born in 2023).

The new life of Ian Somerhalder

Although he has decided to leave the film sets, Ian Somerhalder has not completely abandoned the entertainment industry. He has in fact produced two films Kiss the Ground (2020) et Common Ground (2023) while launching a dietary supplement business”combining cutting-edge technology with nutrients in their most bioavailable form possible”. Last September, he already explained to People Magazine his guideline for his new life: “I say this with all humility, with all due respect, but I would much rather do this than spend two months in some random city, filming a series far from my family or transporting my family to both ways (…) Once you reach a certain point, you say to yourself: “Okay, I want to focus on my family and on the future of agriculture, of food, of energy and great things.” I don't need to chase awards and anything that might make me feel better about myself.”
