Marius Borg Høiby banned from staying at his mother's mansion

The disgrace of Marius Borg Høiby continues. Nearly three months after his arrest and custody for domestic violence and while the police continue their investigation, the young man is facing the first direct consequences of his actions. The Norwegian daily Aftenposten reveals, in fact, that the eldest son of Crown Princess Mette-Marit is quite simply persona non grata in the mansion of his mother and stepfather, Crown Prince Haakon.

Located on the Skaugum estate, west of Oslo, the residence of the same name has been home to the heir family since 2002. For several years, Marius has had a chalet on the edge of the property, which he seems to keep. The imposing modern residence is, however, now forbidden to him. More than just a house, it is access to family privacy, to his half-sister, Princess Ingrid Alexandra, and to his half-brother, Prince Sverre Magnus, which is now taken away from him.

The theater of his childhood, and, more recently, that of his worst excesses. Following accusations of domestic violence by three of his ex-partners, the Norwegian press revealed the existence of crazy parties organized by Marius – known to guests as “Skaugum Festival” – in the couple's private apartments. heir. Not only were members of the local underworld found there, but also precious objects, mainly silverware, were stolen there.

Not to mention that the young man also allegedly damaged the estate's enclosure as well as a safety car during his nocturnal exploits. Excesses illustrated in the media by the publication of several compromising photos and videos.

“We do our best to take care of each other”

A new development in a case that seems to have no end. Latest event to date? Marius Borg Høiby's lawyer overturns the accusation. His client, although he recognizes some responsibility in the three cases of domestic violence, now accuses one of the complainants, Juliane Snekkestad, of having herself been violent towards him. The latter responds by requesting that Crown Princess Mette-Marit be summoned by the police for an interview as a witness. Does her status protect the Crown Princess? Alas no. Indeed, only King Harald V is constitutionally immune from any legal proceedings. It would therefore be almost impossible for Mette-Marit to evade it if the authorities ever asked her to do so.

Let us remember that Harald V has been going through for a year what is akin to a a terrible year Scandinavian. In addition to the scandal affecting Marius, the controversial marriage of Princess Martha-Louise and Durek Verrett on August 31, as well as his own health problems, affected the king as much as the monarchy. A troubled period that the 87-year-old monarch commented with humor during the annual banquet offered to representatives of the Storting, the Norwegian Parliament, on October 24: “Sometimes life is simply very difficult. It's something that everyone can live, including our family. When the people we are happy with are not well, it also hurts those around them. We do our best to take care of each other. In the case of Marius, it seems that it starts with a stricter framework.
