Since then, she has spoken little about the disease. In a long-term interview with the magazine Vanity Fair and published this Wednesday, May 29, she addressed the subject. The former first lady notably revealed that almost five years after the diagnosis, she was not in remission.

In the article published this Wednesday, May 29 on the website of Vanity Fair, Carla Bruni talks about multiple subjects: music, fashion, her time at the Élysée with Nicolas Sarkozy, but also illness. “ Cancer opens new doors. We can still hear the bullets whizzing past his ear! And after the initial shock has passed, it’s practically invigorating, even if it’s painful, worrying and distressing. This is the case with regard to the medications I have to take, given that I am not in remission at all. »

She thus revealed that the disease was still present. Carla Bruni then explained the impact that the treatment has on her everyday life: “ And one day I spoke to a hairdresser friend. He asked me why I wasn’t having lunch. However, Tamoxifen causes weight gain, which I have never experienced, hence the idea of ​​reducing my number of meals.»

In March 2024, she explained on the podcast microphone “ Come on I dare » that she was supposed to take this hormone therapy treatment for a period of five to seven years. She also explained in the podcast that her early diagnosis allowed her to avoid having to undergo chemotherapy and a mastectomy.
