PORTRAIT – The host is not just a radio voice, he also sings, and sometimes writes. In his latest book, he gives thanks to those who accompanied him, from his teacher to Jean-François Revel via Pierre Desproges and Bertrand Tavernier.

We find Philippe Meyer in front of his discotheque. In his living room, the main wall disappears behind a shelf saturated with compact discs. “They are arranged in chronological order», specifies the host of the place. French song, classical music: the repertoire is eclectic and the selection exhaustive – six recordings of Marriage of Figaro eight of Don Giovanni. His nephews encourage him to digitize all these albums which are gathering dust, he continues to listen to them: “It annoys me that all these records are no longer useful.” In the corridor, the collection is still spread out, and some vinyls are next to the CDs.

It must be said that music is the common thread of his life. His passion for radio was born while listening to “La Tribune des critiques de records”, hidden in his room with his Telefunken set; then when he left for boarding school, Philippe took a small galena set – the ancestor of the transistor – to clandestinely listen to his favorite shows under the sheets.
