Adriana Karembeu renews her commitment to the Red Cross

With a smile on her lips and a piggy bank in hand, Adriana Karembeu appealed to the generosity of passers-by on Saturday May 25, on the occasion of the launch of the 90th national quest of the Red Cross. First in Paris, then in Chartres, the ambassador of the association – which is celebrating its 160th anniversary this year – reminded everyone who met that day of the importance of making a donation. For this, she was accompanied by Philippe Da Costa, the president of the NGO.

Adriana Karembeu has been an ambassador for the Red Cross for 25 years and is keen to be present every year for the launch day of the national quest, firstly to support the volunteers, but also to use her notoriety and thus increase the visibility of the event – and increase donations. Because, she reminded France Info yesterday, the donations collected during this period represent “around 40% of the budget of each local unit”.

The association is also looking for volunteers

During her various interviews, Adriana Karembeu also made a point of appealing to volunteers (there are currently 75,000 across France) and for everyone to learn “gestures that save”. “Today, only 40% of French people know them,” she lamented. However, knowing how to save a life should be a duty,” she insisted.

The National Days of the French Red Cross take place from May 25 to June 2 this year. And donations from the National Quest help the association’s 75,000 volunteers carry out their local actions.
