Églantine Éméyé’s tribute to the caregivers of her son Samy

The host, who lost her severely disabled child last year, returned to the neuropediatrics department where he lived his last days. His documentary “Samy and the angels of Timone” is broadcast Tuesday evening on France 2.

Tuesday October 15 in the second part of the evening, France 2 broadcasts its documentary Samy and the angels of Timonea tribute to the nursing staff, to those who don’t realize how great they are. “A very spontaneous cry from the heart” she explains to these caregivers who count neither their hours nor their fatigue in the neuropediatrics department at 6^e floor of the Timone hospital in Marseille.

“You are in a hospital room where you spend 24 hours a day trying to go into the corridors as little as possible because you don’t want to leave your child“, tell Églantine Éméyé and these luminous women “never let go of you, come all the time even though they have 20 billion things to do, take care of your child, but also make sure that you have eaten, drunk or simply that you are not crying, alone. They arrive with a smile and this smile is very important to us“.

In the documentary, Églantine Éméyé also goes to meet the doctor who told him that it was soon over for Samy, a doctor who was extremely attentive and available. “As a mother, we never stop trying to understand how it is possible that a child is born with so many worries and that his end is so brutal.“. “I think I hold on to this bond with this doctor… It’s impossible to explain it, but I believe it’s also the last bond with my son“, recognizes Églantine Éméyé.

“This film was very painful for me, but I am very proud of it. I think these women and men are remarkable and well worth it.”

Thanks to her and thanks to Samy, there was media coverage of autism, disability and especially the lack of care for patients and the obstacle course for parents which was brought to light.
