What is the future of Bryan Danielson after his loss at AEW WrestleDream 2024?

Bryan Danielson lost to Jon Moxley at AEW WrestleDream 2024, so what does this mean for the rest of his career?

Bryan Danielson lost to Jon Moxley in the main event of AEW WrestleDream 2024 and as he himself announced, his full-time wrestling career is over. If at the moment we do not officially know what will happen to Bryan Danielson, Fightful has some details regarding this end of his reign.

We thus learn that Bryan Danielson himself wanted Jon Moxley to be the one to end his reign, the course of which seemed planned since the beginning of the year. It was planned since the beginning of Strickland’s reign that Danielson would be the one to end it, while Strickland insisted on quitting to make Danielson win instead of having the referee stop the match.

Furthermore, while many expected a longer reign from Bryan Danielson, AEW doctors had only allowed Danielson to wrestle in singles matches. Danielson was notably refused participation in the Blood and Guts match for the same medical reasons. Danielson himself reportedly indicated that he regretted having played certain matches in recent weeks.

Free agent, but above all in convalescence

Bryan Danielson has also been a free agent since last August and works on appearances for AEW. While he is now able to wrestle wherever he wants, there are no plans to return to WWE. Bryan Danielson would especially have to be absent for a long time to treat his neck, and would even have to undergo surgery as he himself had suggested.

On the AEW side we hope that Bryan Danielson, once his neck is treated, can wrestle occasionally again.

“I am no longer under contract at the moment. […] But I talked to Tony [Khan]. » Danielson said in an interview with Fightful last August. “And the first thing I should do when I’m done with my career [dans le ring]is to take care of my neck, which may require surgery. This will be my priority. Then I will help AEW however I can. I love AEW. I want to help him as best I can. If AEW wants my help, then I’m willing to contribute. »
