CANNES FESTIVAL – Hand in hand, then hands on mouth. Judith Godrèche and the team of her short film Me too took to the steps of the Cannes Film Festival this Wednesday, May 15 before the screening of the film during the opening ceremony of the Un Certain Regard parallel competition.

The actress, who launched the wave of a MeToo in French cinema in 2024, arrived in a black suit on the red carpet, alongside her daughter Tess Barthélémy and journalist Rokhaya Diallo. After posing all smiles with the rest of the cast, hands held in solidarity, the group climbed the famous steps of the Palais des Festivals.

Under the sounds of the photographers, Judith Godrèche and the sixteen other artists then placed both hands over their mouths. This strong gesture is the same as that made by the demonstrators and victims of sexist and sexual violence in the short film Me toobefore dancing all together, symbol of the liberation of their words.

A strong moment, charged with emotion, which eclipsed the rise of the steps of the Hollywood casting of Furiosa: a Mad Max saga, a few minutes later. Judith Godrèche has freed her speech and found the light again.
