The show The Agency by TMC, which features the Kretz family and their sales of luxury real estate, are attracting more and more criticism, particularly regarding the veracity of the events shown on screen.

The Agency, an unrealistic show?

According to the magazine Public from October 11, everything would be “fake“! The show which shows impressive transactions and exorbitant prices are in fact far from reality. A real estate sector expert, for the magazine, pointed out that the prices displayed on the screen are often “astronomical and unrealistic” et several sales would not even materialize outside of the cameras. These revelations therefore call into question the authenticity of the show.

One of the examples chosen by the magazine is that of the prestigious Venetian palace in presented during a suspenseful episode. The Kretz brothers boasted of having won an exclusive mandate for this exceptional property. However, a quick search revealed that the property was also offered for sale by the multinational Sotheby’s for 120 million euros. This episode, with its 40 minutes of suspense, seems to have been intended more to impress viewers than to reflect any real exclusivity.

Fabrice Luchini revealed that he played comedy for an episode

But that’s not all! Among the revelations of Publicwe count inconsistencies in the chronology of events. For example, during a special episode broadcast last January, the family celebrated Christmas in a luxurious chalet in Méribel. However, it turned out that filming took place in November, well before the holiday season. Furthermore, Valentin Kretz and his wife, allegedly late due to Fashion Week, could not have been held at this event in December, because it actually took place in September. The production finally admitted the adjustment of the chronology for the needs of the show.

But the most surprising revelation came from actor Fabrice Luchini, who recently revealed that he played a role in the show. During his participation in 2020, he pretended to discover offices even though he had already purchased them before filming. He explains with humor: “I played the client for their show, but I already had the offices!”.

Abusive canvassing by a member of the Kretz family

Finally, aggressive methods Valentin Kretz is also accused of canvassing. He is reportedly known for harassing potential customers with repeated calls, even when they are clearly reluctant to sell their goods. An annoyed customer reported that son Kretz kept calling her offering to show her apartment on the show, despite her refusal to sell it.

Behind the smiles and impressive sales on screen lies an unflattering reality for the Kretz family. The Agency would therefore be a fabricated show, full of staging that does not reflect real real estate transactions.

However, the audiences are there with an average of nearly 600,000 fans every Thursday evening on TMC for the fourth season. Télé-Loisirs adds that there will be a sequel to The Agency on TMC and Netflix which offers another similar show to fans.
