Adèle Exarchopoulos made a name for herself in cinema at a very young age.
At 18, she received a first Palme d’Or and at 19 a César for “La Vie d’Adèle”, by Abdellatif Kechiche. However, this name, on which a film can be built, was not unanimous in the industry. And the 30-year-old young woman explained on TF1, in the Portrait of “Sept à quatre” on October 6, that she had been strongly suggested to change it.
This name of Greek origin seemed too long. It is proposed to abbreviate it to “Exar”. Still a minor and “naive”, Adèle asks her father for advice over the phone. But, she tells Audrey Crespo-Mara, he doesn’t “say much.” However, his daughter felt that the idea had displeased her father. And he finally made it known.
“The next day, I learned that my father called production and that he lost his temper. “She has a Greek name, it stays like that,” recalls Adèle Exarchopoulos… And the production gave in.
“I understand, at the same time,” recognizes today the one who has a very strong bond with her father, who introduced her to the pleasure of seeing films from childhood.
The latter, somewhat aware of the particularity of this environment, had also feared, from the start of the success, that his daughter would be considered “like a steak”, ready to be devoured. Fortunately, he had faith in the people around him. He and his mother, seeing that she was happy to do this job, let her make her way.
Talking about her family, which she describes as balanced and protective, the actress also talked about her two young brothers Baptiste and Emile, to whom she is very close. But the least we can say is that their sister’s career does not excite them. They sometimes fell asleep watching his films, or did not even go to the cinema to see them. Of his acquaintances, only Zidane thrills them!
As for her mother, a nurse and “very simple”, who “got married in jeans”, she no longer knew where to stand during her daughter’s consecration at the Cannes Film Festival, which Adèle Exarchopoulos evokes with tenderness. amused emotion.
Great lover, very faithful friend, and loving mother of a seven-year-old boy, Adèle Exarchopoulos shares the poster in Gilles Lellouche’s latest film, “L’Amour ouf”, with François Civil, Elodie Bouchez and Alain Chabat. The film will be released in theaters in France on October 16.
