Kirsten Dunst has been cast to star alongside Channing Tatum in Derek Cianfrance’s upcoming crime film Roofman.

The Spider-Man actress will play a Toys “R” Us employee who becomes friends with the criminal, played by Channing Tatum. He hid in the store after escaping from prison.

According to Deadline, the film tells the true story of Jeffrey Manchester, a former US Army reserve officer who became known as the “Rooftop Robber” or “Roofman” for breaking into more than 60 McDonald’s restaurants by their roofs. The serial thief stole money from the cash register after forcing employees into the freezer.

Roofman will focus on the months Jeffrey Manchester spent living secretly in the Charlotte, North Carolina toy store in 2004 before being arrested and sent back to prison. The character Kirsten Dunst plays is that of a struggling mother of two who becomes involved with Jeffrey Manchester without realizing that he is observing her from inside the store.

Roofman will be directed by Derek Cianfrance, known for films such as Blue Valentine, The Place Beyond the Pines and A Life Between Two Oceans. He co-wrote the screenplay with Kirt Gunn.

Besides Roofman, Kirsten Dunst’s upcoming projects include the drama Rhubarb and Ruben Östlund’s upcoming satirical comedy The Entertainment System Is Down, starring Keanu Reeves and Woody Harrelson. Channing Tatum, who was attached to the project in February, has had a busy year with the release of Blink Twice, Fly Me to the Moon and Deadpool & Wolverine. He has five other films in the works, including Joseph Gordon-Levitt’s musical Wingmen and Adam and Aaron Nee’s comedy Calamity Hustle.
