INTERVIEW – In The Cunning Widow staged at Bouffes Parisiens by Giancarlo Marinelli with elegance and joy, she plays Marionnette, Rosaura’s servant, played by Caterina Murino. Two leading women.
LE FIGARO. – You have played Shakespeare, Stringberg, Feydeau… Is this the first time you have played Goldoni?
SARAH BIASINI. – Yes, and I owe it to Richard Caillat, the director of Bouffes Parisiens. The project was born from the will of Caterina Murino. She wanted to work with Italians in France. She plays a lot in theater in Italy and she wanted to bring her Italian friends here. Richard Caillat loves Goldoni, and he wanted one whatever the cost.
Caterina wanted to work with the director Giancarlo Marinelli, with whom she has already done two plays in Italy. It was Giancarlo who had the idea of The Cunning Widow . I didn’t know this piece, it’s not one of the best known. It was performed during Goldoni’s lifetime, but it did not really meet its audience. Caillat therefore thought of me for Marionnette. To tell you the truth, there was a little adaptation work on the original piece.
