Turnaround. This Thursday, May 2, 2024, Carla Bruni will be heard by investigators under the status of suspect in the context of the judicial investigation relating to the retraction of the intermediary Ziad Takieddinereport our colleagues from Dauphiné Libéré.
As a reminder, the latter accuses former French President Nicolas Sarkozy of having financed his 2007 presidential campaign with Libyan funds, information from a judicial Source relayed by the daily.
It should be remembered that the singer and model had already been heard as a simple witness in June 2023. Things have therefore taken an unexpected turn since the 56-year-old Franco-Italian artist is now being questioned as a suspect, as part of a free hearing organized in the premises of the Central Office for the Fight against corruption and financial and tax offenses (OCLCIFF) in Nanterre.
The former head of state, Nicolas Sarkozy, was himself indicted in this affair at the beginning of October. The charges against him include that of “concealment of embezzlement of public funds”, “passive corruption”, “illegal financing of electoral campaigns” and “criminal conspiracy”.
Nicolas Sarkozy sentenced
This is unfortunately not the first time that the politician has faced justice in this way. Last February, Nicolas Sarkozy was sentenced to one year in prison, including six months suspended, by the Paris Court of Appeal in the context of the “Bygmalion” affair, relating to excessive spending during his lost 2012 presidential campaign. He was in fact accused of having exceeded the legal threshold for these expenses of 20.5 million euros.
“ Mr. Nicolas Sarkozy is entirely innocent, he took note of this decision, he decided to appeal to the Court of Cassation. He therefore maintains his fight, his position in this affair“, confided Vincent Desry, his lawyer.
