Gourdon. A “Tribute to Édith Piaf” concert full of emotions

On Saturday, the Pargueminiers hall was crowded with fans for the “Tribute to Édith Piaf” concert. A concert like we rarely see in Gourdon, more than 250 people communed with the unforgettable Édith Piaf thanks to the charm and voice of Grace Beauly and the famous accordionist Liliane Falco.

A concert that we owe to the Sauvons l’église de Prouilhac association supervised by Thierry Durand and his wife. The funds recovered are entirely dedicated to financing the restoration of the little gem that is the church of Prouilhac.

Before describing the singer and her musician, let’s introduce the audience. An extraordinary audience, comparable to those who frequent the Olympia and its entertainment giants. Sitting or standing, singing, moving or swaying, others waltzing to the famous rhythms of the 50s, the powerful bursts of applause, the “another, another…” A few lighters lit and brandished towards the stage during the encores which were very insistent at the end of the concert, the spectators wanted more and more, and they were rewarded by two returns of the duo. There was emotion. Congratulations to Grace and Liliane!

It should still be noted that Grace Beauly immediately felt her audience, integrating with them, bringing them together in her arms, kissing them tenderly, moving with sincerity. She will perform Edith Piaf’s greatest hits, such as: The Hymn to Love, Sous le ciel de , Padam Padam, Les amants d’un jour, Non je ne regrette rien, Milord, La vie en rose… A pure treat.

Grace Beauly, born to a pianist father and a soprano singer mother, received an education steeped in musicality, beginning to sing at the age of 5. Grace remembers: “I heard Edith Piaf’s voice for the first time, I was 7 years old; I had fun imitating her, I knew almost all her songs by heart, today I love interpret it with conviction and depth It was in in 2022 that, for the first time, I was asked to sing Édith Piaf, it was for the 60th anniversary of her death.

The accordion accompaniment was breathtaking. Let us point out that Liliane Falco is also a versatile musician, because she is the principal organist of several churches in Occitania.
