The news was shared on Instagram, after the actor’s family posted a press release to announce the death of Drake Hogestyn. This actor was known for playing John Black In Days of our lives. He also played this iconic character for no less than 38 ans. Introduced in 1986 in the American series, Drake Hogestyn began by playing a mysterious character.
His talent then allowed him to become one of the quasi-permanent members of the program. However, his career in Days of our lives was suddenly called into question between 2007 and 2011. Although his character was initially presented as dead in the series, John Black eventually returned, only to be out of the soap opera again in 2008. It was not until 2011 that Drake Hogestyn returned Days of our lives.

The one who played John Black in Days of our lives was diagnosed withpancreatic cancer. “But he met this challenge with impressive strength and determination”assures his family.
The disease however ended up winning Drake Hogestyn. “After an incredible fight, he died peacefully, surrounded by his loved ones. He was the most extraordinary husband, father, dad and actor there was“, added the entourage of the actor Days of our lives in their press release.
“He loved performing in front of Days of Our Lives audiences and sharing the stage with the best cast, crew and production crew. We love him and will miss him every day of our lives“, concludes the press release. Besides Days of our livesDrake Hogestyn also made himself known for his roles in other series and films. The actor notably played in Seven Brides for Seven Brothers, Investigation in Beverly Hills or even One Stormy Night.
