On Thursday, September 26 in Paris, the 28-year-old model paraded in a corset at the Schiaparelli show. A look that has earned him numerous criticisms.

“Be stylish but at what cost? This Thursday, September 26, Kendall Jenner participated in the Schiaparelli spring-summer 2025 fashion show at Paris Fashion Week. For this occasion, the top model walked the catwalk in a very tight white corset and slim, high-cut jeans under the eyes of her sister, Kylie Jenner, who was in the front row. A simple-looking outfit but which strongly caused Internet users to react after the addition of an Instagram video by Vogue revealing behind the scenes of the show.

“Can she even breathe?”

Watching the video where the model appears wearing her corset top which compresses her waist, many fans expressed their dissatisfaction. Indeed, they consider the look of their idol uncomfortable. “She looks so uncomfortable, just look at her face”, “As stiff as uncooked spaghetti”, “As long as this is a body standard that is glorified, generations of women will continue to suffer”, we can read in the space reserved for comments.

We could get used to this kind of common criticism on social networks, but it seems that these are unjustified: this outfit is not a choice of Kendall Jenner but rather that of the designer who selected this piece especially for the Schiaparelli parade. The corset, however, is rarely unanimously accepted, especially when it is used by members of the Kardashian-Jenner clan. Last May, Kim Kardashian caused a sensation at the Met Gala by wearing a custom-made dress by Margiela, made up of a metallic lace corset. She had already made an impression five years earlier, at the same event, with a spectacular wet-effect corset by Thierry Mugler. The fashion piece gave the businesswoman an almost unreal wasp waist and made it difficult to move around, which shocked social networks. “Did you see his size? She couldn’t even sit up,” “Did Kim Kardashian have her ribs removed?”, declared Internet users on the X network, May 8, 2019.

The corset never leaves you indifferent. Worn by celebrities such as Nicole Kidman at the 2024 Venice Film Festival or Diane Kruger at the last César ceremony, this skimpy fashion piece seems to be back in a modernized version. Long considered a symbol of oppression of the female body, the corset is now being re-appropriated by celebrities. Without the constraint, it even becomes a “liberating” accessory and symbol of powerful femininity.
