Dolly Parton’s Opinion on Beyoncé’s Absence in Country Music Awards Nominations

Dolly Parton comes to the rescue of Beyoncé and country music! As the R&B queen’s country album, Cowboy Carterreceived no nominations for the 58th Country Music Awards, the genre legend gave his thoughts on the notable absence.

“There are so many wonderful country artists that, I guess, the country music community probably felt like they couldn’t really leave out the ones who have spent their whole lives doing this,” he explained to Variety the 78-year-old singer who, let us recall, collaborated on two tracks from Queen B’s album.

For her, this is in no way a case of deliberate snobbery.

An album hailed by the country community

“I think it was more about what the country charts and country artists do, the ones that do it all the time, not just for a special album,” Parton added. She also noted that Beyoncé could be “very, very proud of the record” and that “everybody in the country world embraced it and thought it was great.”

Despite this absence from the CMA, Cowboy Carter was a resounding success, reaching number one on the Billboard 200 and spawning several hits. Proof that Beyoncé doesn’t need nominations to conquer the country world!
