These two found each other well. This Friday, Brigitte Macron and Stéphane Bern had the chance to meet up in Chartres for the 41st edition of the European Heritage Days. The President of the Republic, Emmanuel Macron, went there to visit the workshops of Maison Lorin, the oldest stained glass workshop in the city. For the occasion, Rachida Dati, who kept her position as Minister of Culture in Michel Barnier’s government, was also there.
But the beautiful friendship between Brigitte Macron and Stéphane Bern was once again on full display and the First Lady did not hesitate to walk arm in arm with the famous TV host Secrets of History (All the photos can be found in the slideshow). It must be said that the latter is at the head of the Heritage Mission whose stated objective is to restore and safeguard the heritage of French sites. A beautiful day for the President of the Republic, who also had the chance to visit the famous Chartres Cathedral, where he was able to admire the veil of the Virgin, a major relic of the building. “What they have done here is superb, we are in a beautiful country after all”rejoiced the man who took a crowd bath in Bormes-les-Mimosas with his wife this summer, in comments collected by France 3.
A beautiful friendship that continues
This is not the first time that Brigitte Macron and Stéphane Bern have met for the Heritage Days. In 2019, they visited the Château de By in Thomery (Seine-et-Marne), again accompanied by the President. The host has already spoken about the great relationship he has with the presidential couple, which has not always been easy to assume, especially when he was given the task of establishing a list of monuments in danger and identifying the little-known treasures of French heritage in 2017. “When you are appointed by the head of state, you inevitably take a beating…”explained the Franco-Luxembourgish presenter to Parisian at the time, before saying more about the support of the Macron couple in complicated times, when he received a lot of criticism: “I received calls or texts from him or his wife. They never let me go.”
