“Arabian Heartbreak” is the title of Manal Benchlikha’s new album. This artist, who was called Manal BK at the beginning of her career, finished this 15-track opus while she was pregnant. She is expecting a girl.Working on a music album while pregnant is complicated. I was very tired and I wasn’t very inspired. But, finally I am very happy and satisfied with the tracks we have made.” she said for The360 during the album launch party yesterday, Thursday September 19 in Casablanca.
In the video for the song “Cabaret”, one of the flagship tracks of this album which evokes heartbreak and romantic break-ups, Manal appears alongside her husband Monsef.At first, he was my manager, then he became my producer. It’s not always easy to manage, especially when, for example, he criticizes me and I have a hard time accepting it… But, I’m very happy to work with him, I trust him and he encourages me” she confided.
If pop style is in Manal’s DNA, raï is a musical genre that she increasingly sports.As many may have noticed, lately I have released several raï songs, it gave me a feeling of freedom. But pop will always be there, it is my identity” she says.
Manal collaborated with several artists in this album. On the menu, featurings with Tagne, Outro, Libianca, Elena Rose and Zamdane.
