This year, Sébastien Benoit is experiencing his greatest professional period in 30 years of career. Well established in Quebec in the artistic community, he is now the new host of Chanteurs masqués, the most listened to show in Canada with nearly two million viewers. You’ve been with your partner, Karine, for 16 years, you’re Laurent’s parents and you’ve been engaged for three years. Work is great, but when will you get married?
(Burst of laughter) Yes, I know! We got engaged with the intention of getting married, it’s clear that it’s going to happen, but we did major renovations at our place and it all cost a lot of money. We just have to find the time to plan it, and I know that Karine really wants to get married…
You too?
Yes, that’s why I took this first step towards engagement. But I like to say that the real contract in all this is our son, Laurent. I think we’re doing a great job with him. That said, I don’t want a big wedding. I see our families, our friends and, to be honest, I’m especially looking forward to the honeymoon! (laughter) I won’t hide the fact that I’m less eager than my girlfriend for the wedding, but she made me feel that she’s looking forward to it. And as I find it beautiful to give a testimony of love like that, and in front of our son, we should really find a date and a room soon.
