The card game began this Wednesday evening before ending tragically shortly after 4am. The dramatic sequence of events was reported by our colleagues at France Bleu. A private poker tournament was being held in a rented house on Avenue Carnot in La Rochelle. And a few hours before sunrise, two hooded men entered the pavilion where the event was taking place.
With guns in hand, they demanded that the organizer give them the tournament money. When he initially refused, a first bullet was fired at the ceiling. After a second refusal, the man was shot in the head.
The two men are still being sought.
Alerted, the police of La Rochelle went to the scene as well as the criminal identification technicians. At the scene of the tragedy, on Avenue Carnot, the investigators found shell casings, just in front of the rental truck that was used to transport the tournament equipment. According to our colleagues, the investigation was entrusted to a branch of the judicial police, the organized and specialized crime division (DCOS).
The perpetrators of the attempted robbery have still not been found by the authorities and witnesses pres(…) - 20minutes
