STUDENT LIFE – La Fage notes an increase of 2.7% compared to the previous year, notably driven by an increase in rents and the unfreezing of university registration fees
You have to pay for university registration, the deposit for the studio, food… And in the end, the bill is always higher for students. “A real warning signal”, the cost of the student return to school is this year at more than 3,150 euros after a new increase. This is in any case what the Fage (Federation of General Student Associations) observes, which published its annual indicator on Wednesday.
The aim is to assess the cost of going back to school for a typical 20-year-old undergraduate student at university, not on a scholarship, not living with their parents. “For many students, going back to university is an almost insurmountable step, conditioned by family support or forced employment,” insists Fage.
An increase of 2.7%
According to Fage, this cost amounts to 3,157 euros for this 2024 school year. An increase of 2.7% compared to the previous year, notably driven by an increase in rents (+2.5%), health insurance (+2.08%) and the price of educational materials (+16.69%).
