DGSE, DRM, special forces… These ex-generals who are retraining as CEOs

Grégoire de Saint-Quentin at the head of GEOS, Didier Castres CEO of DCI, Ronan Haicault de la Regontais director of operations of Amarante… Long confined to the role of advisor to CEOs or security directors, former generals are now landing operational positions at the highest level. Explanations.

He could have continued his journey within the armed forces. Moved up the ranks in the intelligence services. Or even aimed for a third or fourth star. But Brigadier General Ronan Haicault de la Regontais, deputy director of “capabilities” at the Directorate of Military Intelligence (DRM), made another choice. At only 53 years old, he left his uniform to become the 1is September, deputy general manager in charge of operations of the security company Amarante International, one of the French leaders in the sector, headed by Alexandre Hollander, a former member of the DGSE action service.

Trained at Saint-Cyr, in the same year as Alexandre Hollander, having passed through ESSEC and the War School, Ronan Haicault de la Regontais spent most of his career within the 2e Hussar Regiment, based in Alsace, with which he was deployed to the Sahel and Afghanistan. He then became head of the finance office of the Army, before joining the DRM, where he managed HR, finances and equipment purchases.

By joining Amarante, he joins one of the most dynamic groups in the security sector, which notably manages the security of international institutions (European Union, UN, etc.) and private groups in risk areas, such as Afghanistan or the Middle East. “Ronan Haicault de la Regontais commanded a regiment, he studied at ESSEC, rubbed shoulders with finance and HR: he is a first-rate reinforcement for us, who is already familiar with the economic dimension of the job”rejoices Alexandre Hollander.
