The 2024 Housing Talks held on August 30 highlighted the insufficient supply and the problematic links between employment and housing. With 2.6 million applications for social housing and a shortage of housing in large cities, the situation is affecting the economy and the daily lives of students and employees. The discussions also addressed cooperation between local authorities to improve housing management. Here is the insight from our columnist Henry Buzy-Cazaux.

New for your savings from October 24. As a result of the green industry law, the amounts placed on new life insurance contracts or retirement savings plans (PER) will be partly invested in companies not listed on the stock exchange. This new obligation will apply to savers who have chosen managed management. Only “prudent” profiles in life insurance will not be affected, but for PERs, the most cautious profiles will have to invest between 2% and 6% in private equity. More dynamic profiles will see these percentages increase to 15%.

A tough blow for the automobile industry. In August, sales of new cars in France fell by 24% compared to the previous year, with only 85,977 vehicles sold. Despite this decline, two French models remain at the top of sales: the Renault Clio, with 5,059 units, and the Peugeot 208, in second place with 4,745 units.
