Battery status and repairs revealed

When we talk about electric cars, the story of Lawrence with his Tesla Model 3 really attracts attention. Since its purchase in September 2018she swallowed approximately 250,000 kilometers (155,000 miles) in six years. On his YouTube channel ‘Tesla Joy’, he shares a golden story about the robustness and reliability of an electric car after having driven so much.

The battery: does it hold up?

When you have an electric car, it’s normal to wonder how the battery is doing. For Lawrence, she lost between 8% et 10% of its capacity, while the Tesla Tessie app speaks rather of a drop of approximately 11%. But nothing alarming: he never changed the original battery. He mostly uses Superchargers for recharging, as he doesn’t have access to slow charging. And contrary to popular belief, he says it doesn’t hurt the battery too much: “People say supercharging is bad… but I don’t really see a difference. »

Maintenance: almost nothing to report

What’s amazing about Lawrence’s testimony is how little he spends maintaining his car. Until 233,000 kilometersalmost no maintenance required. In total, the repairs cost him approximately 1 000 dollars. Among these:

  • replace the charging socket (approximately 600 dollars)
  • change the small 12 volt auxiliary battery (approximately 125 dollars)
  • and also upper control arms for a few hundred dollars.

Tires and always happy!

As for tires, Lawrence started with Michelin 4S before opting for cheaper brands later. Despite these changes and all these kilometers covered, he is still very happy with his car: “Everything is still 99% like new. » Even if there is a little wear visible here and there, it’s so minimal that you “don’t really feel the age of the car. »

Are electric cars our future?

Lawrence’s positive opinion joins that of many users who think electric cars are here to stay: they are 64% to believe it! His experience shows that with little maintenance, an electric car can stay in top condition for years.

What Lawrence says not only highlights the impressive durability of the Tesla Model 3 but also shows that they can change the way we think about electric cars. For those considering going electric, its history gives confidence in what can be expected in terms of long-term performance and reliability. Given the current environmental challenges, this reflection could be a step towards a greener future!
