The Chambers of Commerce of Quebec and Lévis are uniting in a historic alliance to promote the economic development of the entire region, and according to them, this requires better mobility, from the third link to the tramway, via the port and even by futuristic transportation like flying taxis.

The two organizations announced Tuesday “the creation of a strategic alliance aimed at strengthening economic growth and the competitiveness of businesses in the region.”
Historic first
In interview at JournalFrédérik Boisvert, President and CEO of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Quebec, and Marie-Josée Morency, President and CEO of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Greater Lévis, affirm that this alliance is a first in the more than century-old history of the two organizations.
We want to strengthen collaboration between the two shores on an economic level. The alliance will speak “with a strong and influential voice for the economic players of the two cities and will position itself on a series of regional issues and files”.
Among them, mobility. The Chambers are in favor of the tramway, a third motorway link to the east, with or without public transport, and any other solution which could improve the fluidity of traffic and the mobility of goods and individuals. “We are here to represent our members and they want increased mobility,” says Mme Morency.
Thinking about the future
“We also have to think about the future,” adds Mr. Boisvert. What is the future? We see it in other countries around the world currently, the advanced mode of air transport is aerotaxis, the whole phenomenon of drones. There really is an explosion in technology and we have to be on the lookout. There is the road that unites us, but there will be many other modes of transport in the future. Both Chambers will ensure that we are always on the lookout for new technologies.”
-He was also approached by the United Arab Emirates, who wanted to promote their network of flying taxis. Last year, The Journal had produced a report in South Korea, which will put this mode forward this year.
The Chambers also support the development of the Jean-Lesage airport and the QSL container terminal project at the Port of Quebec. Strengthening the regional supply chain to support local businesses is also among the alliance’s priorities.
The alliance is not a merger, specifies Mme Morency, but there will be numerous collaborations between the two directions on these common subjects.
