Several Swiss websites hit by Russian cyberattack – rts.ch

Russian hackers attacked the websites of several Swiss municipalities and banks on Tuesday. The Federal Office for Cybersecurity expected such attacks to occur during the World Economic Forum in Davos.

For hackers, this is a virtual online demonstration. They want to attract attention, the Federal Office for Cybersecurity (OFCS) said on Tuesday, confirming information from Bluewin.ch.

The Russian hacker group “NoName” is believed to be responsible for these denial of service attacks, known as DDoS. According to the information portal, the Zurich and Vaud cantonal banks as well as the Lucerne municipalities of Adligenswil, Kriens and Ebikon were affected.

According to the OFCS, DDoS attacks consist of overloading sites and applications with targeted requests, so that they are no longer accessible. There is no data leak. The same group of hackers had already paralyzed administration websites in June 2023.
