BYD launches its ship to export its vehicles
BYD Shenzhen has a capacity to accommodate 9,200 electric vehicles. The ship docked in the port of Yangzhou in China after its construction, ready to enter service. The boat is 219 meters long, 37.7 meters wide and has a draft of 9 meters. Its maximum speed is 18.5 knots, or approximately 34 kilometers per hour.
BYD claims its ship is the world’s greenest automobile transport via a hybrid propulsion system with liquefied natural gas (LNG), traditional marine fuel and various energy-saving tools.
The BYD Shenzhen vessel is also equipped with BYD Box stationary batteries, designed to reduce fuel consumption when docking. The automaker plans to build a fleet of eight carriers by 2026. Currently, four are already operational.
-The maritime fleet supports BYD’s global expansion. In 2024, the Chinese manufacturer exported 417,204 vehicles outside its lands with a growth of 71.9% compared to the previous year.
BYD is relying on a vertical integration strategy to manage vehicle production but also the logistical resources necessary for global distribution.
