Monday January 13, 2025, the president of Île-de-France Mobilités Valérie Pécresse launched an attack against l’application Akhawhich allows you to report controllers in transport.
An application which also allows free riders in the Lyon metropolitan area to escape controllers on the TCL network.
In illegality
Akha, launched in September 2023, had more than 10,000 downloads the latest news, allowing you to report incidents on public transport. But in reality, the system above all makes it possible to alert the presence of controllersfor example on the TCL network.
24 hours a day, a map is therefore updated with new messages from users. This Tuesday afternoon, controllers were reported in particular on tram line T4, towards Vénissieux.
A complaint to the RATP…
As our colleagues atnews Paris, the method is yet illegalaccording to article L2242-10 of the Transport Code: “causes it to be disseminated, by any means and whatever the medium, any message likely to indicate the presence of controllers […] is punishable by two months' imprisonment and a fine of 3,750 euros.
-In the capital, the RATP assured that it intended to file a complaint against Akha and seize Google and Apple. The application is no longer available in the first catalog, but continues to be downloaded from the App Store.
… And soon from TCL?
Contacted by news LyonTCL, assures that it is “fully aware of the misuse of usage reported around the Akha application” and mentions a complaint:
We also reaffirm our commitment to taking all necessary measures, including possible filing of a complaint, to ensure compliance with the rules and guarantee a safe and fair network for all.
TCL also thanks Île-de-France Mobilités and RATP Dev “for their responsiveness to this problem”, and says it is ready to collaborate “in order to strengthen existing tools and improve prevention against this type of abuse”.
