At 63, Belgian artist Marka returns with a new single, an album, a book and a head full of projects.
Since 1981, Marka has never really left the stage. Today, at 63, he remains as passionate as when he started. “Everything is going well, I have lots of projects and concerts. I’m 63 years old, but I don’t want to stop, and I’m lucky to still love my job,” he confides .
Intact energy
What is the recipe for its longevity? “Energy and desire. I am lucky to be able to continue what was a childhood dream.” And Marka doesn’t just dream: with a new album and a book, both planned for March 7, the Belgian artist shows that he is still ready to take on any challenge.
A tribute to the passing of time
His single “Comme le dit Orelsan” takes an amused and sincere look at the effects of time. “When you get up in the morning at 63 and a half years old, and your foot hurts or elsewhere, you know very well that the machine is hard to get started. But we manage to do it, even as best we can. the same with my job: releasing an album at 63, it’s not easy. We wonder who it will interest?
In “Appellez-moi Serge”, album and book both expected for March 7, Marka opens up more than ever. Accustomed to collaborating with lyricists like Riton Lippman or Jacques Duval, this time he turned to his personal memories. “It’s a bit like going to the psychologist. I needed to say certain things that I had never been able to say, especially about the relationship between my mom and my dad.”

Beyond albums and books, Marka is also involved in projects that are close to his heart, such as “Tournez des Villages”. This original concept takes it directly to Belgian municipalities to offer open-air concerts. “It’s a concept that I really like because there are few people who have the time to come to Brussels to see concerts and artists, and I do the opposite, I go towards them”he explains enthusiastically.
