The Council of the Al Boughaz intercommunal cooperation establishment announced the launch of a call for tenders for the acquisition of 476 new buses, intended to modernize the urban transport network in Tangier and its surroundings. The budget allocated to this operation amounts to 1.12 billion dirhams.
This ambitious project aims to replace the buses of the Spanish company ALSA, whose contract with the municipality of Tangier is expiring. Pending the implementation of this new system, the contract with ALSA has been extended by six months.

The new buses, which must be equipped with the latest technologies, will be divided into five categories:
• 28 buses, 8 meters long, Low Floor type, equipped with a minimum Euro 5 diesel engine.
• 51 buses, 10 meters long, Low Floor type, equipped with a minimum Euro 5 diesel engine.
-• 120 buses, 12 meters long, Low Entry type, equipped with a minimum Euro 5 diesel engine.
• 247 buses, 12 meters long, Low Floor type, equipped with a minimum Euro 5 diesel engine.
• 30 buses, 18 meters long, Low Floor type, equipped with a minimum Euro 5 diesel engine.
The Council of the Al Boughaz intercommunal cooperation establishment thus intends to significantly improve the quality of the urban transport service for the inhabitants of the Tangier-Asilah region.
