Having joined the ranks of AS Saint-Étienne between 2013 and 2016, Franck Tabanou (35 years old) had a lot of fun in Forez. Notably during a derby won against Olympique Lyonnais in the Chaudron.
ASSE supporters have not forgotten Franck Tabanou. Spent in Forez between 2013 and 2016, after a stint at Swansea, the 35-year-old left-back remained living in Brittany after his time at Guingamp (2018-2019) and completely left the world of professional football.
Tabanou experienced madness at ASSE…
“Before Guingamp, I already wanted to stop because there was no longer this notion of pleasure,” explains the former Toulouse resident in L’Équipe. Asked about his best career memory, Tabanou is clear: “Once, I experienced something incredible. It's been twenty years since Saint-Étienne won the derby at the Geoffroy-Guichard stadium against OL. And we won 3-0 (November 30, 2014). The Cauldron shook. It was total madness, I've never felt that anywhere else. »
-…and snubbed OM!
And Tabanou concludes with a juicy anecdote about OM in the transfer window: “After my loan to ASSE from Swansea (in 2016), the club told me that it was not counting on me. I then have two years of contract left. It's August 31, I'm at a restaurant with my wife. My agent calls me to tell me that Granada is interested and Marseille too. OM offered a loan, I preferred a transfer. But I didn't even wait for their response, I chose Spain and a Championship that suited me better. »
