“Right now, I’m on foot.” When she decided to treat herself a little by buying a premium model in Luxembourg last May, Sarah* probably didn’t imagine seeing her car stuck in the garage. But after months of waiting and procrastination, the young woman decided to file a complaint in November against the Car Store company, a car seller based in Contern.
In bankruptcy since the end of December, the company is accused by at least ten customers of having sold vehicles that did not belong to it over the past year. According to our information, these originally came from a leasing company. Then in great difficulty, Car Store would not have paid the amounts allowing the acquisition of said vehicles following the rental. In his right, the rental company would then have declared certain cars stolen. A consequence which places customers in good faith in an even more complicated situation.
“They sold us cars that didn’t belong to them. The risk is that they will be taken back from us. But we can’t use it anyway,” explains Sarah. Unable to finalize the purchase of the vehicles in question, Car Store never provided the documents allowing them to be registered. The use of the temporary plate having expired, the seller would have multiplied the subterfuges, even going so far as to provide rental of replacement cars to the people concerned, via its Rent Me entity.
“Their goal was to save time,” understands Sarah, who regularly communicates with around ten other customers in the same situation as her. Complaints have been filed in France and recently in Luxembourg, which is confirmed The essentials the parquet. “Currently, a preliminary investigation is underway,” the judicial authority told us. The alleged victims have organized themselves, nine of them are represented by Me Brian Hellinckx, lawyer at the court. “This affair could be described as a scam,” he sums up The essentials.
Despite several attempts, the former Car Store executives could not be contacted. “On our side either, no more sounds, no more images,” laments Sarah, who inevitably regrets having spent 36,700 euros on her car: “These are significant sums. Some people bought some great models. There’s even a Lamborghini!”
