already a hit in China, production will begin in Europe

Marketed since January 10, 2025 in China, the new Tesla Model Y received 50,000 orders in less than 24 hours. The launch here seems close because production will start in Germany.

Highly anticipated, the Model Y Juniper is having a curious launch. The restyled version was officially unveiled and released in Asia on January 10. The rest of the world has to wait!

But the wait shouldn’t be long. According to the German newspaper Handelsblatt, Juniper production should begin this Tuesday, January 14 at the German factory, not far from Berlin. Enough to hope for a quick sale with us, perhaps as early as this week.

A great start in China

According to several Chinese media, the restyled Tesla Model Y has received a very good reception from consumers. One salesperson said the outlet he works for reportedly had nearly 300 orders on January 10. Across China, nearly 50,000 vouchers have reportedly been signed for the new electric model.

In the country, two versions of the Model Y Juniper are available: a RWD with 295 hp and a 4WD with 444 hp, whose prices are 263,500 yuan (35,000 euros) and 303,500 yuan (40,400 euros) respectively. The first deliveries are expected in March 2025. Customers who buy now may have to wait until May.

The Austin firm delivered 480,309 Model Ys to China in 2024, an increase of 5% compared to 2023. With this new version, the manufacturer hopes to do much better, in order to stay in the race against BYD. But be careful, Tesla’s electric SUV will soon have a new major competitor in China with the arrival of Xiaomi YU7.
