This time that's it, we're launched for the new year 2025! A year which certainly has many surprises in store for us, but also inevitable rituals, which we are very happy to have to go through! On think in particular of the galette des Roiswhich is again in the spotlight every year as soon as the Epiphany period arrives. A friendly moment, often shared with family or colleagues, always with this little competition to see who will get the bean. We therefore offer you a selection of best places to buy a good galette des Roisand in the Hautes-Alpes (and the Southern Alps), we have plenty to do!
Les Délices d’Adeline, in Gap
We start with a fairly prestigious bakery that is quite famous in the region: Les Délices d’Adeline. An establishment located in Gap, which has a small particularity that should not displease you. In 2025, the bakery has once again decided to highlight its cake of Kings, or brioche of Kings as it is sometimes called elsewhere in France. A delicious cake, which is circular in shape, a bit like crowns, not stupid when you want to celebrate the visit of the Three Wise Men to Jesus (this is the origin of this custom). A very sweet king cake, as we can see in the images posted on social networks, all for prices that remain reasonable. If you're hungry and you're in the area, don't hesitate!
Oro Bianco, in Briançon
We are now heading towards Briançon, to introduce you to a new brand, this time called Oro Bianco. A bakery which was taken over by a couple a few years ago and which makes absolutely everything in-house, by real artisans, all with natural sourdough. They too are big fans of pancakes and king cakes/brioches, which is why the establishment offers both products! And when we see the care (see video below) with which they prepare their products, we say to ourselves that we would be tempted to have both a pancake and a brioche! Little bonus: if you have a wedding or birthday coming up soon, the couple also offers to make a pretty, unique cake for the occasion!
Rodrigues House, in Digne-les-Bains
As we are still hungry, and above all, as the south of the Alps is full of quality bakeries, this time we go back down a little in altitude to Digne-les-Bains, where one of the most prestigious family establishments in the region is located. : Rodrigues House. A bakery and pastry run by the Rodrigues family, in particular the two brothers Rémi and Frédéric Rodrigues, who set up not so long ago but who are already making a lot of talk about them. Moreover, Rémi has been designated as the baker who makes the best pastries in the entire PACA region in 2024. Obviously, the establishment offers its own versions of the galette des rois: the classic frangipane, the frangipane with pink praline , and obviously, the Brioche des Rois. If you don't find what you're looking for with that, we don't know what to do for you!
Maison Rouger, in Manosque
We descend a little further in altitude to finish and head towards Manosque. A very beautiful town, where for almost 20 years (2006) there has been an establishment that works quite well: Maison Rouger. Managed by Manuel Rouger, who even had the entire interior of the bakery redone by an architect to give it a more modern and functional appearance, the bakery makes a point of building its cakes, breads and good things, with quality products: AOP butter, organic cereals and flours, local ingredients, in short, the top of the basket. Obviously, they haven't missed the galette des Rois either, and have even posted several videos in which they explain how they work with this very special traditional dessert.
