Bad news for Toulouse airport, it is Lyon Saint-Exupéry airport which will recover part of easyJet’s activities. The British company will close its base at Toulouse airport by April 2025, which has caused a strike and significant unrest in one of the largest French airports.
“The two aircraft currently based in Toulouse-Blagnac will be “redeployed to the bases of Lyon and Nantes”, confirmed in January 2024 a press release from one of the main companies operating in Saint-Exupéry.
The Lyon-Toulouse line maintained, new lines opened at Saint-Exupéry
By closing its Toulouse base, easyjet is stopping half of its routes there. Of the twenty, only ten are preserved. The Lyon-Toulouse connection is still maintained between the two major metropolises.
easyJet in any case continues to focus on Lyon airport, much more than for its Toulouse competitor. In May and June, it opens five new destinations from Saint-Exupéry: Bari (Italy), Essaouira (Morocco), Brindisi (Italy), Zadar (Croatia) and Reykjavik (Iceland).
The company with the Orange and white logo is the first in Lyon in terms of number of passengers. “These new features bring to 56 the number of destinations served in 2025 by the Orange company, which is first in Lyon, a real record making Lyon the largest easyJet base in terms of capacity and destinations offered,” states the company in a press release.
