Nine million French households will receive a transfer from the tax authorities to their bank accounts on January 15. This is an advance of tax reductions and credits based on 2023 spending. Who is affected? RMC Conso takes stock.
639 euros: this is the average amount that nearly nine million French households will receive in their bank accounts on Wednesday January 15.
This advance corresponds to 60% of the total amount of tax reductions and credits (RICI) declared in spring 2024 for expenses incurred in 2023.
This amount appears on the last income tax notice, received last summer. To be sure not to miss the transfer, you should know that it will be sent by the Public Finance Department (DGFiP) and labeled “ADVANCE CREDIMPOT”.
Home jobs, donations, nursing homes…
Who is affected? “This advance, paid at the very beginning of the year, aims to support and develop in particular home employment as well as donations or accommodation in nursing homes. It also contributes to preserving the purchasing power of the French people concerned”, is -he explained in a press release from the Ministry of the Economy.
For home employment, this involves, for example, the services of a cleaning lady or a gardener. Taxpayers who incur childcare costs are also concerned, as well as those who have made rental investments (with the Pinel, Scellier schemes, etc.). You can find the entire list on the Service-Public.fr website.
A second transfer in the summer
Depending on the 2024 income declaration which will be filed next spring, the final amount of tax reductions and credits will be subject to regularization in the summer of 2025, taking into account the first amount paid on January 15. You will therefore receive the remaining 40% next summer.
“Taxpayers whose bank details are not known to the tax administration will receive this advance in the form of a check which will be sent to them by post by the end of January,” it is concluded in the press release.
