Volkswagen’s program for 2025, a year full of new features

After a festive year 2024 (restyled , new Tiguan, ID.7, etc.) the 2025 vintage will be rich in new features… and not just any new ones! Detail review.

The Wolfsburg brand is blowing hot and cold at the moment. On the positive side, there is the fact that its thermal models still sell just as well in Europe. The Golf has regained color, the career of the new Tiguan is off to a flying start and the T-Roc is still going strong. As a result, the German manufacturer achieved a market share of 27.6%, the best score in three years. On the negative side, there is the fact that 100% electric models are still struggling to find success and will push Volkswagen to “reduce its costs on its German sites”, to use the words of a spokesperson quoted by Bloomberg. Many jobs would be at stake.

Commercial launch of the Tayron

We start with the obvious. Unveiled shortly before the Motor Show, the long variant of the Tiguan which can accommodate up to 7 passengers will its entry into the French market in March. Orders have been open since October. For the moment, it gives the choice between a 150 hp 1.5 eTSi mild hybrid engine et two plug-in hybrids of 204 hp and 272 hp equipped with a large 19.7 kWh battery allowing them to evolve more than 120 km in zero-emission mode. Will follow a little later but on a date still unknown a 150 hp diesel. With a small entry ticket under €50,000you will have understood, it is not on him that Volkswagen can count on to weather the storm.

Renewal of the T-Roc

The other new thing that we will discover towards the end of summer will be otherwise important for the German brand. And for good reason since consumers love it just as much as the Golf we are of course talking about the Volkswagen T-Roc. In recent years, it had even gotten into the habit of overtaking the compact sedan. This is not the case in 2024, the restyling of the Golf having borne fruit and the T-Roc being at the very end of its career.

Significant design change

Because yes, it will be renewed in 2025. The stylistic evolution should be quite marked. Like the Tiguan, it should drop the edges to softer shapes in the spirit of electrical production (ID.3, ID.4, etc.). The interior design should also be taken over from its big brother.

The arrival of the hybrid

He will be especially expected on this point: today, not a single engine of the T-Roc is electrified. This should undoubtedly change light and rechargeable hybridization, what we find for example on a Golf or a Tiguan. Enough to consolidate its success and even undoubtedly break new records.

A surprise for the ID.2

At the Munich Motor Show, Volkswagen will unveil a concept derived from the ID.2the future small low-cost electric (the equivalent of the Renault 5), the one which should finally help it take off on this market. What will it be about? It’s too early to tell. But a few months before the commercial launch of the ID.2, we can expect a model giving valuable information on the production vehicle.

A restyling for the Polo?

We told you about it recently, the brand is also preparing a second restyling for the Polo. According to our British colleagues from Autocar, we should discover this revised version in 2025. Which would ultimately be a nice way to celebrate your 50th birthday. Another argument in favor of an update, the Seat Arona and Ibiza will also be reviewed at the end of next year, no doubt on this point. And according to the CEO of the Spanish brand Wayne Griffiths, this was decided to “extend the life cycle of these products with hybridization” to do, according to him, “just like Volkswagen”. Knowing that we are talking about two models based on the same platform as the Ant, it would not be surprising if it was redesigned at the same time. To be confirmed in the coming months.
