Here's everything that changes from January 1, 2025

From the first day of the year 2025, many changes come into effect. These different measures will undoubtedly have an impact on the lives of the French.

2025 will not be like 2024. Several of the incidents that occurred during this year are already having a definite impact on the new year. The government has already announced numerous measures which will come into force from 1is January 2025. In total, these are almostabout ten measurements which comes into force. We take stock!

New unemployment compensation rules

From 1is January 2025, three new measures come into effect regarding unemployment compensation. First of all, age limits from which unemployed seniors benefit from long-term compensation are increased by two years:

  • The level of 22.5 months of compensation increases from 53 to 55 years old
  • The 27-month compensation level increases from 55 to 57 years

Secondly, more restrictive bases will be used to calculate the compensation for cross-border workers who pay their contributions in neighboring countries.

RSA rules are getting tougher

In 2025, the rules for active solidarity income will become more stringent. Reinforced monitoring is carried out by the State.

The most important is that RSA beneficiaries are immediately registered with Travail. New beneficiaries will have to complete an online questionnaire on the France Travail website in order to be directed to the organization that should support them. They will then carry out a personalized assessment and sign a contract with the referring organization.

As for former beneficiaries, no necessary action is necessary. However, new obligations come into force. For example, everyone should devote 15 hours per week to integration activities with a view to finding employment.

Increase in the cost of consultations

As has already been the case since December 22, we now pay 30 euros for a consultation with a general practitionercompared to 26.50 euros previously.

Modification of the health record

A new health record comes into play. The big change is the addition of pages dedicated to children's screen time. The objective is to fight against increasingly long screen time which is not without consequences. These pages will provide advice as well as criteria for monitoring.

Restriction des tickets-restaurant

The daily amount will drop from 25 to 19 euros. Likewise, you will no longer be able to use them to purchase products that are not directly consumable. Only ready meals, tomatoes and sandwiches are eligible.

Economic activity courts for companies in difficulty

Commercial courts will be replaced by economic activities courts. The latter are now authorized to deal with everything related to business difficulties: from amicable procedures to judicial liquidation.

The one-stop shop for business formalities

For all the formalities to be carried out, companies will have to go through the one-stop shop for formalities. Likewise, all companies with fewer than 11 employees that want to pay their contributions quarterly in 2025 will have to do so before December 31.

The mobility payment rate

From 1is January, changes apply to mobility payment rates. This contribution from companies with more than 10 employees makes it possible to finance public transport. All changes made from New Year's Day are available on the public service website.

End of annual tax exemption for hybrid vehicles

In 2025, hybrid vehicles will have to pay the annual tax on CO2 emissions. The latter is also increased for company vehicles registered for the first time in France from March 2020. The new scale put in place can be found on the public service website. It is planned to evolve gradually until 2027.

New procedures for technical and safety controls

The technical inspection of vehicles will be strengthened in 2025, in particular with the introduction of new procedures. The objective of these is to detect fraud to better respond to environmental challenges.

Ban on Crit'Air 3 cars

In Low Emission Zones (LEZ), new restrictions come into play. If you own a Crit'Air 3 vehicle, you will no longer be able to drive in the ZFEs of , , and from 1is January 2025.
